Ingredients for Cacao water (agua de cacao)

  • 130 g cacao beans

  • 1,200 ml fresh coconut water or good-quality bottled coconut water

How to make Cacao water (agua de cacao)

  1. Toast the cacao beans in a dry small saucepan or frying pan over medium heat for 5–8 minutes, until browned on both sides and fragrant.

  2. In a large pitcher, combine the toasted cacao beans with the coconut water.

  3. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for 2 days to allow the flavours to infuse.

  4. After 2 days, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the cacao beans.

  5. Serve the strained beverage over ice.
