Why this happens

Both medicines work by slowing down the central nervous system (the brain and nerves). When used together, their effects are added together, making the sedative effect much stronger than if you took either one alone.

You should only take these two medicines together if your doctor has specifically told you to do so. If you are prescribed both, do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid drinking any alcohol, as this will make the sleepiness much worse. If you experience extreme drowsiness or difficulty breathing, seek medical help immediately.
