Can I take 10 and Lamotrigine together?

Drug interaction guide

Drinking alcohol while taking lamotrigine can make you feel much more drowsy, dizzy, or lightheaded than usual. It can also make it harder to concentrate or perform tasks that require alertness. In some people, alcohol may also increase the risk of having a seizure or make the side effects of the medication more severe.

Why this happens

Both lamotrigine and alcohol affect the central nervous system (the brain). When used together, they have an 'additive effect,' meaning they both slow down brain activity at the same time, leading to increased sedation and impaired coordination.

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking lamotrigine. If you do choose to drink, do so very cautiously and in small amounts to see how it affects you. Do not drive or operate machinery if you have consumed any alcohol, as your reaction times and judgement will be significantly impaired. If you find that alcohol makes your condition worse or increases your seizures, you should stop drinking entirely and speak with your doctor.
