There are no known significant interactions between acamprosate and Belaloc (metoprolol). These two medicines work in very different ways and are processed by different organs in the body.

Why this happens
Acamprosate is primarily cleared from the body by the kidneys and does not involve the liver enzymes that process metoprolol (Belaloc). Furthermore, acamprosate affects chemical messengers in the brain, while metoprolol works on the heart and blood vessels, meaning their effects do not overlap or interfere with one another.
What you should do

However, as with any medication, you should monitor how you feel and report any new or unusual symptoms to your GP or pharmacist. If you are taking acamprosate to help remain abstinent from alcohol, remember that it is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol, as drinking while taking heart medication like Belaloc can affect your blood pressure and heart rate.
