Can I take Accrete d3 and Vitamin d3 together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking Accrete D3 and a separate Vitamin D3 supplement together can lead to having too much Vitamin D in your body. This can cause your calcium levels to become dangerously high (hypercalcaemia). Symptoms of too much Vitamin D and calcium include feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, muscle weakness, feeling very thirsty, and feeling confused. In severe cases, it can lead to kidney stones or kidney damage.

Why this happens

Accrete D3 already contains a significant dose of Vitamin D3 (Colecalciferol) along with calcium. Adding another Vitamin D3 supplement creates an 'additive effect', where the doses combine. Because Vitamin D is fat-soluble, the body stores the excess rather than getting rid of it, which can lead to toxic levels over time.

You should not take both of these together unless specifically told to do so by your doctor. Check the dose of your Vitamin D3 supplement and show it to your GP or pharmacist. They will decide if the extra dose is necessary for you or if you should stop one of them to avoid Vitamin D toxicity.
