Taking Adcal-D3 (calcium and vitamin D3) at the same time as alendronic acid can stop the alendronic acid from being absorbed into your body. This means the medicine for your bones will not work properly.

Calcium binds to alendronic acid in the stomach, forming a large complex that the body cannot absorb into the bloodstream.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou must wait at least 30 minutes after taking your alendronic acid before taking your Adcal-D3 or any other food, drink, or medicine. Most doctors recommend taking alendronic acid first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and then waiting at least 30 to 60 minutes before having breakfast or taking your calcium supplement.
