Why this happens

Both medicines can affect the immune system and how the body handles certain proteins. When combined, they can cause the immune system to overreact or interfere with the production of blood cells in the bone marrow.

You can usually take these together, but you must be monitored closely by your doctor. Seek medical help immediately if you develop a skin rash, hives, swelling of the face or tongue, a sore throat, or a fever. Your doctor may want to perform regular blood tests to check your blood cell counts.
