Why this happens

Both medicines act as central nervous system (CNS) depressants. This means they both slow down brain activity. When taken together, their effects add up (an additive effect), making the sedation much stronger than if you took either medicine alone.

You should only take these two medicines together if they have been specifically prescribed by your doctor. If you do take both, avoid driving, operating machinery, or drinking alcohol, as these activities will be much more dangerous. If you feel excessively sleepy or have trouble breathing, seek medical help immediately.
