Why this happens

Amitriptyline is primarily broken down by liver enzymes (CYP2D6 and CYP3A4), while bempedoic acid is processed through different pathways (glucuronidation) and does not significantly interfere with the enzymes that handle amitriptyline. Additionally, they work on different systems in the body—one for mood/pain and the other for cholesterol—meaning they do not have overlapping side effects.
