Taking berberine and iron supplements at the same time can make both of them less effective. The berberine can prevent your body from absorbing the iron, and the iron can prevent the berberine from being absorbed properly.

Why this happens
Berberine has the ability to 'bind' to metal ions like iron in the digestive tract. This creates a larger complex that the body cannot easily absorb into the bloodstream. This is known as 'chelation'.
What you should do
Back to contentsTo ensure you get the full benefit of both, do not take them at the same time. Space the doses out by at least 2 to 3 hours. If you have iron-deficiency anaemia, it is best to speak with your doctor before starting berberine, as it could interfere with your treatment.

Taking Vitamin D alongside statins (such as atorvastatin or simvastatin) may slightly lower the levels of the statin in your blood. However, Vitamin D is also known to help reduce muscle pain, which is a common side effect of statins. In many cases, these two are prescribed together to help patients tolerate their cholesterol medication better.

Can I take 1.25 and Msm together?
There is no known interaction between aspirin (75mg, often referred to as '1.25' grains in older measurements) and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane). However, both substances can have a mild effect on how your blood clots. Taking them together might slightly increase the risk of bruising or bleeding, although this is not well-documented in clinical studies.
