Can I take Betahistine and Ranolazine together?

There is no known direct interaction between betahistine and ranolazine. However, both medications can occasionally cause side effects like dizziness or lightheadedness. Taking them together might slightly increase the chance of feeling unsteady, especially when you first start treatment or change your dose.

Why this happens

These drugs work in completely different ways and are processed by different pathways in the body. Betahistine is used for balance disorders (like Ménière's disease) and works on histamine receptors, while ranolazine is used for chest pain (angina) and works on sodium channels in the heart. There is no evidence that they interfere with each other's absorption or metabolism.

You can generally take these two medicines together. As a precaution, monitor how you feel when starting the combination. If you feel unusually dizzy, drowsy, or faint, avoid driving or operating machinery and speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Always ensure your doctor knows all the medications you are taking.
