Taking Celebrex (celecoxib) and sulfasalazine together can increase the risk of kidney problems. Both medications can affect how well your kidneys filter blood and manage fluid. Additionally, because both drugs can be tough on the digestive system, there is a slightly higher risk of stomach irritation or indigestion.

Why this happens
Both drugs can reduce the production of prostaglandins, which are natural chemicals that help protect the lining of the stomach and maintain blood flow to the kidneys. When used together, their effects on the kidneys can be additive, potentially leading to reduced kidney function or fluid retention.
