Taking gabapentin and modafinil together may lead to increased side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, or difficulty concentrating. While modafinil is a stimulant and gabapentin is often used for nerve pain or seizures (and can cause sedation), they do not necessarily 'cancel each other out'. Instead, you might feel a confusing mix of being alert yet dizzy or uncoordinated.

There is no significant evidence that these drugs change how the other is absorbed or cleared by the body (pharmacokinetics). However, they both affect the central nervous system in opposing ways (pharmacodynamics). This can lead to unpredictable effects on your coordination, alertness, and mental clarity.
What you should do
You can usually take these together, but you should be cautious, especially when first starting the combination or changing your dose. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how the mix affects you. If you feel excessively dizzy, confused, or 'spaced out', contact your doctor.
