Why this happens

Atorvastatin (a statin) and perindopril (an ACE inhibitor) work in different ways and are processed by different pathways in the body. Atorvastatin works in the liver to lower cholesterol, while perindopril works on the blood vessels and kidneys to lower blood pressure. They do not interfere with each other's absorption or metabolism.

You can safely take these two medicines together as prescribed by your doctor. It is often helpful to take them at the same time each day to help you remember. If you experience any new or unusual muscle pain (a rare side effect of statins) or a persistent dry cough (a common side effect of ACE inhibitors), you should mention this to your GP.
