There are no known significant interactions between pregabalin and vitamin D supplements. It is generally considered safe to take these two together.
Why this happens
Pregabalin and vitamin D are processed by the body using different pathways. Pregabalin is mainly removed from the body by the kidneys and does not interfere with the liver enzymes that process vitamin D. Furthermore, they do not have overlapping side effects that would cause concern.
What you should do
You can continue to take both as prescribed. As with any supplement, it is always a good idea to inform your doctor or pharmacist about everything you are taking to ensure your records are up to date.
Important precautions
Mental health disorders
Pregabalin can cause suicidal thoughts or an urge to self-harm. You must seek medical help immediately if your mood changes or you have thoughts of hurting yourself.
Severe respiratory depression
Pregabalin can cause serious breathing problems, especially if you already have lung disease or if you take it with other sedating medicines like opioids. Seek emergency help if you experience slow, shallow, or difficult breathing.
Pregnancy
Pregabalin use during the first three months of pregnancy may increase the risk of birth defects. Effective contraception must be used during treatment.
Drug dependence and withdrawal
Pregabalin carries a risk of dependence and addiction. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can cause severe withdrawal symptoms such as seizures or anxiety.
Hypercalcaemia (high blood calcium)
Do not take vitamin D if you have high levels of calcium in your blood or urine, as it can lead to serious kidney damage and heart rhythm problems.
Food and drink warnings
Alcohol
It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking pregabalin. Combining alcohol with this medicine can significantly increase side effects such as extreme sleepiness, dizziness, and blurred vision. It can also increase the risk of breathing problems.
High-fat meals
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. It is best absorbed by your body when taken with a meal that contains some fat (such as eggs, avocado, or nuts).

Can I take Magnesium and Wegovy flextouch together?
There is no known direct interaction between magnesium supplements and Wegovy (semaglutide). However, both can affect your digestive system. Wegovy slows down how quickly your stomach empties, which could theoretically change how quickly your body absorbs magnesium, though this is rarely a clinical concern. Additionally, both can cause side effects like nausea or changes in bowel habits (magnesium often softens stools, while Wegovy can cause constipation or diarrhoea).
