Why this happens
Both medicines work by slowing down activity in the central nervous system (the brain and nerves). When used together, their sedative effects are added together (an additive effect), making the side effects much stronger than if you took either medicine alone.
What you should do
Back to contentsUse this combination with caution. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require you to be alert until you know how these medicines affect you. Do not drink alcohol while taking these medicines, as it will make the sleepiness much worse. If you feel extremely drowsy or have difficulty breathing, contact your doctor immediately.

Driving and operating machinery
Both medicines can cause significant drowsiness and blurred vision. Do not drive or use tools until you are certain you are not affected, as your reaction speeds will be reduced.
Respiratory depression
Pregabalin can cause severe breathing problems, especially if you already have lung disease or if you take it with other medicines that cause drowsiness or contain opioids.
